Malaysians have begun to band together in order to help each other through these tough times. The white flag movement has recently gained traction, becoming the symbol of help for those who are suicidal or struggling with the current lockdown and pandemic. A display of a white flag indicates that you are in need of help and support without the need for begging or verbally asking.
It is no secret that many have been struggling with the lockdown that has no indication of ending anytime soon. In fact, many of whom have already taken their lives as Malaysia has seen an exponential increase in suicide rates. Just last year, there were over 1,000 cases of attempted suicides. In the first quarter of 2021, almost 4 suicide cases have been reported to the police everyday.
For those who are capable, it is important at this time to help those who are in need that may just be around your area. It is now the time for us to support our own community by providing provisions where we can spare them.
