South Korea’s Emart24 opens first outlet in Malaysia

Emart24 is a South Korean convenience store operated by Shinsegae, a departmental store headed by Shinsegae Group. The name Emart24 is meaningful as the E represents their technological advances as they introduce unmanned convenience stores with self service kiosks and purchase tracking. Furthermore, the 24 in its name signifies that it is a 24 hour convenience store. However, operation times in Malaysia will be reduced in order to conform to the current SOP due to the lockdown.

This famous convenience store stands out from its competitors by offering Korean street food, unique offerings and exclusive snacks that are directly manufactured in South Korea. All fresh food and ready-to-eat-meals are certified halal and sourced from halal vendors. Moreover, they also stock authentic Korean beauty products from OnlyKorea.

The first reserve store has opened at Bangsar South, at Wisma Touch N’ Go Tower 6. This is the first store out of the 500 stores that the company is planning to open in Malaysia over the next 5 years. Each reserve store is said to have their own distinctive look to deliver a fresh concept.
