The numbers of Covid-19 cases continue to spike in these three states which are Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan. These three states have been consistently recording high case numbers with Selangor at over 5,000 cases, Kuala Lumpur at over 1,500 cases and Negeri Sembilan which also just reached over 1,000 cases yesterday.
In wake of this growing issue, The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced that they will deploy more healthcare workers to these three states as soon as possible. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba stated that 417 healthcare workers will be transferred from other states to Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan. An additional 1,190 healthcare workers and 5,000 volunteers are to be deployed in order to reduce the burden of those who have been tirelessly aiding the Covid-19 patients.
Furthermore, hospital ward bed, emergency department bed and ICU bed capacities will increase by 365 beds,105 beds and 69 beds respectively in Selangor. In Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, the hospital ward bed and ICU bed capacities will also increase by 334 and 27 beds respectively. The government will also cooperate with 3 teaching hospitals; University of Malaya Medical Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Children’s Specialist Hospital and Universiti Putra Malaysia Teaching Hospital in order to increase efficiency of treating Covid-19 patients.
In addition to that, Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) which has been a Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) 2.0 will now be an integrated hospital. This means that MAEPS will include treatment for Category 3 and 4 patients. These treatments will include emergency rehabilitation to those who need oxygen.
