Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob has recently announced that the entire country is expected to move into Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) in early August. He commented that according to the National Immunisation Program’s performance, 10% of the population is set to be fully immunised by the end of July. Based on the data from the Immunisation Program, the Malaysian population has already surpassed the 10%, reaching 11.8% on the 13th of July.

There are, however, still two other factors that the states need to achieve in order to move on to Phase 2.  The states would have to reduce their daily Covid-19 to below 4,000. Furthermore,  ICU beds will have to return to moderate levels of use.

Ismail Sabri remains positive and states that “If this positive development continues, the whole country will be able to move into Phase Two in early August, just like the states announced before this,”
