MITI Letters Will Not Be Accepted for Interstate Travel (July 18-21)

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has recently announced that the police will not be accepting MITI Letters as a form of approval to travel interstate. This is because it has been observed that there have been a high number of vehicles on the highways. The ban will also prevent irresponsible parties from travelling interstate to celebrate Hari Raya Haji and sprouting another potential Covid-19 cluster. It will also prevent and avoid issues that happened last Hari Raya when thousands of vehicles were allowed to travel interstate, conjuring a spike of Covid clusters after the fact.

Travelling interstate for emergency matters or health matters such as vaccination appointments will still be accepted at roadblocks. Furthermore, those found flouting the SOP’s may be faced with fines.
