As many have just registered for the upcoming Covid-19 vaccinations, here is what to expect when you are getting vaccinated. The process begins when you receive your SMS/ MySejahtera notification of your upcoming appointment. If you have missed your appointment, you can find out what to do next here. You would then proceed to your registered vaccination centre. The process would usually take around an hour once you arrive at your destination.

What To Do When You Are At The Vaccination Centre*

*Note that different vaccination centres may have different process of administering your vaccination.

Step 1: Fill up your form

Firstly, you will have to scan your attendance on the MySejahtera App and get your temperature checked. You will then be given some forms to fill out which includes your personal particulars. Once it is filled, you would then have to pass the forms to the medical personnel and wait for your name to be called.

Step 2: Recording your blood pressure and temperature

After your name is called, proceed to the counter where you would have to take your blood pressure. You will also have to answer questions regarding any symptoms or illness that you may be having at the moment. After your blood pressure and particulars are recorded, you will then be asked to sit and wait for the next step.

Note: This step is usually done for high risk category groups, therefore you may not have to measure your blood pressure.

Step 3: Registration for Vaccination

You would then need to hand in your IC or identification card to the person in charge. After verification, you will have to scan another QR code on MySejahtera. This QR code will show that you attended the vaccination appointment. It will also reflect on your MySejahtera vaccination page.

Depending on the vaccination centre, you may be asked about any underlying illness or conditions that you may have at this stage

Step 4: Consultation

After registration, you will be consulted by a doctor. At this stage, the doctor will explain to you about what type of vaccination you will be taking, how to deal with the symptoms and answer any concerns that you may have before taking the vaccination. Once you understand the risks of the vaccination, you will then have to sign the consent form.

Step 5: Vaccination Time!

You will have to hand your form to the medical staff in order to record the time of injection. Remember to relax at this stage as a medical personnel administers the vaccine. It is advised that you take a look at the dosage given as there were reports of underdosing. Find your correct dosage here

Step 6: Observation

After your vaccination, you will be taken to another waiting area to be put under observation for 15-30 minutes. This is for medical staff to give immediate attention to those who have any adverse reaction to the vaccination. Once your observation period is over, you will have to measure your blood pressure one more time and will be given another briefing on how to handle symptoms from the vaccination. You will also be given a vaccination card. You may receive the date of your next appointment or you may have to wait for another appointment to be scheduled on your MySejahtera app.

Step 7: Vaccinated

Congratulations, you have gone through the process of being vaccinated. Do note that you have to bring your vaccination card to your second appointment.

What To Do For Your Second Dose

The period between the AstraZeneca Vaccination is a maximum of 12 weeks, Pfizer BioNTech is at least 21 or 28 days and Sinovac at 4 weeks apart. When you set or get your appointment for your second dose, remember to bring your IC and Vaccination Card. The process of your second dose will be similar to your first one.

However, there would not be anymore consultation from the doctors as you would have already understood the risks and benefits of the vaccination. At the end of your second dose, you will have to give your vaccination card for medical personnel to complete your registration. Your digital certification will be reflected on your MySejahtera within 24 hours.
